Not Too Late: ISAC Supports for Students

2025 Engaged Learning Conference

ISBE Student Advisory Council Application Open

ISBE Boardroom

What we’ve been up to...

Graduation season has commenced! (See what we did there?) We’ve been busy celebrating and continuing to learn in a variety of settings across Illinois.

  • NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology Senior Design Showcase – With high school and community college students, alumni, and business partners in attendance, the Senior Design Showcase featured engineering projects that students developed and opportunities for others to learn about those projects and to challenge students and faculty with alternative ideas, questions, and next steps in development.

  • Illinois Workforce Summit – We were excited to engage with a full room of workforce development experts from around Illinois from community colleges, state agencies, employers, and community-based organizations. At the center of our presentation was the results, findings, and recommendations of the SkillsUSA Illinois Apprenticeship Work-Based Learning Landscape Analysis. Based on the robust experiences of the professionals in the session, outstanding analysis and novel ideas were shared between and among participants.

  • Golden Apple Foundation Accelerators Induction – On Saturday, May 10, we attended the Golden Apple Foundation’s annual Induction for its new Accelerators. Golden Apple Accelerators move through an accelerated MAT program to join the teaching workforce in 15-months with supports from both their university and the Golden Apple Foundation. Accelerators come from a wide range of locations across Illinois and have had varied paths prior to their entry into the Accelerators program.

In addition to all this work, we continue to engage with partners in developing and implementing new custom services for this summer and the coming year on topics including strategic planning, research and evaluation, career readiness, dual credit, coaching, and policy.

Not Too Late: ISAC Supports for Students

It is not too late for current community college and high school students to consider their options for continuing their postsecondary education for the coming academic year. To help community colleges and school districts support students, ISAC has developed a number of key resources that you can share with students!

  • ISACorps – Near-peer mentors who will meet with students and their families. Students can even pre-book a time with ISACorps online to meet in either English or Spanish.

Schools can also benefit from ISAC tools, including the Financial Aid Completion Initiative and the secure GAP Access Portal
