Tim Dohrer’s new book on mentally healthy schools available for pre-order
NIU Director of Educator Leadership and Partnerships Tim Dohrer and his co-author, social worker Tom Golebiewski, have completed their forthcoming book, The Schools We Need Now: A Guide to Designing a Mentally Healthy School, which is scheduled for release from
Corwin on June 11, 2024. The book is currently available for pre-order.
The Schools We Need Now focuses on practical strategies for building community, enhancing belonging, and lowering
students’ stress, trauma, depression, and anxiety. Improvements in any and all of these areas should lead to increased and deeper student learning and a wide range of improved student outcomes.
The Illinois P-20 Network is excited to see this important and useful work come to fruition, and knowing how well it aligns with our current Areas of Focus, we look forward to working with Tim and Tom and colleagues across Illinois to help put these ideas into action at the classroom, school, district, and state levels.
