The Schools We Need Now Book Launches
Health and wellness, both mental and physical, are the focus of The Schools We Need Now, a new book by Tim Dohrer and Tom Golebiewski. This new book directly addresses our Area of Focus of Equity and Opportunity and indirectly addresses our Areas of Focus of Career and College Readiness and Educator Engagement. To help launch the book, the Illinois P-20 Network hosted a webinar this week with Tim and Tom and will host a second webinar on August 28.
Add The Schools We Need Now to your summer reading list, and plan to join Tim and Tom, who will be in conversation with Jason Klein and will take questions from the audience during the live webinar.
Illinois Affinity Group Network Seeking Paid Facilitators
The Illinois Affinity Group Network is set to expand further during the 2024-2025 school year, thanks to continued funding from the Illinois General Assembly. Teach Plus Illinois is now accepting applications for facilitators who will support their peers by forming an affinity group during the upcoming school year. Facilitators will receive training to conceptualize and design their affinity group; leadership coaching to support its implementation; and membership in a professional learning community to build skills, share ideas, and address common challenges. Additionally, facilitators will receive a $2,500 stipend for their commitment.
If you are interested in becoming an affinity group facilitator through the Illinois Affinity Group Network fellowship, please email Noemi Cortes by July 15.
