What we’ve been up to...
|
As a new feature of the Newsletter, beginning today, we’re going to more actively update our partners on the Network’s activities. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been engaged with..
KEEP Illinois — We have wrapped up the KEEP Illinois research report on supporting and promoting educator retention and engagement. We are very excited to share this with the field, and we will be doing so in an upcoming webinar. Then, we look forward to launching specific workgroups to address the
recommendations across Illinois!
Dual Credit Think Tank — We have wrapped up the follow-up survey on HB5020 priorities and professional development needs. The data from this survey is currently being analyzed and will be presented at Dual Credit Think Tank meetings on October 1 and October 3. Planning is also underway regarding a Dual Credit
Think Tank Finance Sub-Committee.
Working with partners in the field — Over the past two weeks, members of the Illinois P-20 Network team have been excited to be out working with partners throughout the state. A few highlighted experiences include...
ICCB Forum for Excellence — Meeting with colleagues from community colleges and EFE regions from across Illinois in East Peoria proved to be a great learning experience with a focus on workforce development, CTE, adult learners, and dual credit.
Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Dual Credit Summit — This outstanding regional event was hosted at Olney Central College as practitioners from across the IECC community colleges and school districts shared ideas and strategies and refined their practices together.
Highland Community College Belonging at Work Grant Workshop — As part of Highland Community College’s ICCB Noncredit Workforce Grant, the Illinois P-20 Network provided a Train the Trainers workshop for HCC staff, who will, in turn, work with organizations throughout the region to support local workplace efforts around inclusion to lead to even better working environments and client outcomes.

SkillsUSA Illinois Apprenticeship Landscape Analysis Coming Soon |
This fall, a research team from the Illinois P-20 Network and the Northern Illinois University Center for Governmental Studies Workforce Policy Lab will be working together with the support of SkillsUSA Illinois to conduct a comprehensive statewide landscape analysis of apprenticeships in Illinois.
|
|
|
In addition to existing governmental data, we will be conducting a statewide survey of employers and educators to complete the gaps that exist in the collected data. We will need the help of school districts,
postsecondary institutions, area career centers, and Education for Employment (EFE) system directors to accomplish this task in both completing the survey and sharing it with business and community partners.
The goal of the study is to provide a comprehensive overview of what apprenticeships exist across Illinois, where they are geographically, in what type of career fields, the conditions of the apprenticeships, and who current apprentices are.
Look for more information in October!
