Proposed Amendment to the Dual Credit Quality Act – HB5020
Earlier this month, House Bill 5020 was filed in the Illinois General Assembly’s House of Representatives. Over the past four years, the Dual Credit Think Tank has worked to increase awareness and recognition of the most pressing challenges facing dual credit partners in the state. Most recently, dual credit practitioners from both secondary and postsecondary have responded to the Higher Learning Commission’s recent policy changes to faculty qualifications requesting improved guidance and clarification.

Stand for Children Illinois has led the development of House Bill 5020, and the Illinois P-20 Network has been able to collaborate in elevating the voices of educators from across Illinois from both school districts and postsecondary institutions in this process. In collaboration with the Illinois Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships, the Dual Credit Think Tank will continue to be an active participant in the improvement of dual credit systems, policies, and practices.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact Rodrigo López, Director of P-20 Initiatives (rodrigo.lopez@niu.edu).
