What we’ve been up to... |
We hope that everyone has been able to stay warm this past week, and that we were all able to pause and consider the legacy of Dr. King and to move forward with service in our work to ensure opportunities for all students. Over the two weeks since our last Newsletter, there have been significant conversations with many school districts across the state – more to come on those. In the meantime, we’ve been excited to work with many partners...
SkillsUSA Illinois – Two weeks ago today we were in East Peoria meeting with the SkillsUSA Illinois team about the SkillsUSA Illinois Apprenticeship Landscape Analysis. Since then, we’ve been able to spend time with additional data that we received from ISBE. We have analyzed that data and integrated it into
our final report. Watch this space for more information regarding the release of the report in the coming weeks!
Wauconda High School – As mentioned above, since everyone’s return from Winter Break, significant time has been spent with school districts and statewide organizations to support their efforts. We were excited to spend time at Wauconda High School in Lake County considering the importance of school improvement, how to best organize schools for success, and the role of students in leadership within schools.

ECN Conference 2025: Student-Centered Coaching with Diane Sweeney |
Student-Centered Coaching introduces a new way of delivering instructional coaching that puts the needs of students front-and-center. By focusing coaching on goals for student learning, rather than on fixing teachers, an instructional coach can directly impact instructional practice and student achievement. By popular demand, we are thrilled to welcome back Diane Sweeney to ECN for our annual conference on April 24, 2025. Diane believes that Student-Centered Coaching can transform teaching and learning in K-12 schools.
This full day of in-person learning will be of value to prospective coaches, new coaches, and experienced coaches, as well as any school leader interested in creating a culture of coaching in their school or district. We encourage you to bring your entire team to the conference!
Registration is $375 and includes parking, breakfast, lunch, materials, and 6 Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Groups of 3 or more receive a $50 discount per person. Register by March 1, 2025, to receive an additional $25 discount per person.
