The Illinois P-20 Network – New Opportunities for Action

The Illinois P-20 Network hosted its Fall 2022 Meeting at NIU Naperville on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Approximately 100 educational leaders from across Illinois were in attendance representing school districts, postsecondary institutions, state agencies, and other professional and advocacy organizations.

The Illinois P-20 Network leadership team has been analyzing data from the exit survey and is eager to share its plan to move forward, working towards our fundamental goals of equity and opportunity as well as effectively using research and meaningful data. Our efforts will continue to focus on Career and College Readiness broadly, as one of the key transition points in our system is when learners move from high school to whatever is next in their educational and career journeys. One of the ways we'll continue this work is through our NIU Illinois CTE Project Team and its collaboration directly with ISBE to support school districts across Illinois with ongoing improvements to Career and Technical Education (CTE) and increased accessibility of CTE for all students in all schools.

Looking ahead, the Illinois P-20 Network will be undertaking new opportunities for action in each of the above areas. Additionally, as discussed at the Fall Meeting, we are developing plans based on feedback from attendees for how we can minimize or eliminate the educator shortage by improving educator retention at all levels across Illinois. The leadership team of the P-20 Network understands that increased attention and effort must be dedicated to the retention of educators, and we look forward to sharing specific plans for how we can do this soon.

REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

Join the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for a day of networking and collaboration between Illinois CTE educators and state administrators before attending the annual IACTE conference.

Morning sessions will provide timely information and support for specific groups outlined on the event page. Following the morning sessions, everyone is invited and encouraged to attend a specialized networking lunch and afternoon breakout sessions related to various CTE topics.
In addition, the ISBE Career Connections Conference is hosting an evening keynote event to help kick-off the IACTE Conference. Dr. Amanda Bastoni, whose background is as a CTE teacher and administrator, will bring her energetic and highly informative presentation style to provide significant insights into what schools of all sizes and in all settings across Illinois can do with and through CTE to improve learning and increase student success.
