What we’ve been up to... |
We hope that you had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving and that you’ve had a good week back at work!
Since the last Newsletter, we’ve also had a lot of time off, but we have been out and about a bit!
Illinois Joint Annual Conference/Triple-I – We were able to attend the Illinois Joint Annual Conference/Triple I and talk with school district administrators from across Illinois. As always, it was so great to connect in-person, to hear stories of what is currently happening in your communities, and to think about big solutions to the complex issues that are facing educational organizations across Illinois. We look forward to continuing these conversations.
Middle School Presentations – We were able to attend presentations from middle school students about sustainability solutions that ranged from alternative energy solutions to increasing ridership on public transportation. We were able to provide local feedback alongside the global feedback provided by a remote professional from the United Kingdom. As is typically the case with our students, their outside-the-box ideas might be just what is needed for new innovations and to solve complex, intractable
problems!
Visits with partners – We've been able to have a number of face-to-face meetings with partners over the past week in the field. One common theme running through these conversations is the importance of meaningful data, and the challenges of successfully collecting and finding time to analyze that data and deeply engage stakeholders with it.
Rockford Public Schools Fall Student Teacher Celebration – As the semester starts drawing to a close, we were excited to be able to, once again, join colleagues in RPS205 at the celebration for their student teachers who were completing their teacher preparation programs and who will be starting their journeys as licensed educators following Winter Break. It is so exciting to think about the thousands of students who will be served in the coming decades by these educators!

New Workshop – ISBE PD Plus: How-to and Why
Please share with educators and your communities broadly!
In this webinar, which will be held on January 16, 2025, from 1:30 to 2.30 PM, participants will learn how to use ISBE's PD Plus system for professional development hours and evaluations. The idea for this webinar originated from instructional coaches across Illinois at our first ECN Foundations of Instructional Coaching workshop this year.
Participants will not only learn how to use this system, but they will also learn how their use of the system can create new efficiencies for school districts, regional offices of education, professional organizations, and other professional development providers as well as for the educators being served.
This webinar is free to Illinois P-20 Network Partner Plus members, and non-members can register to attend individually for $35. Registrants will receive a calendar invite with a Zoom link to attend the session.

Educational Coaching Network (ECN) Highlights |
The Foundations of Instructional Coaching series kicked off with Jim Knight and participants from across Illinois prior to Thanksgiving. We wanted to provide updates to the entire Illinois P-20 Network because ECN resources and events are great for not only instructional coaches of all kinds in school districts but also postsecondary instructional support leaders, experts in workforce development, and practitioners from a wide-range of early childhood
settings.

Vision 2030 moves forward |
In October 2023, the Illinois
Association of School Business Officials (Illinois ASBO), Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA), Illinois Principals Association (IPA), Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), Superintendents’ Commission for the Study of Demographics and Diversity (SCSDD), Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools (IARSS), Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE), and the Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools (AIRSS) launched Vision 2030 with the goal of articulating what the Illinois educational community stands for and aspires to realize.
Through three in-person work sessions and a statewide survey, the Vision 2030 Policy Framework emerged. You can also check out this Vision 2030 launch video.
As more information is shared regarding next steps toward realizing Vision 2030, in addition to each of the above organizations sharing, we will continue to keep everyone up-to-date. As an Illinois P-20 Network, one of the core functions of our work is to ensure that communication about goals and policy initiatives takes place across all levels of education across Illinois!

ILACEP Summit 2025 Announced |
The Illinois Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (ILACEP) has announced its 2025 Dual Credit Summit. As was done two years ago, the Summit will be simultaneously held in a Northern and Southern location to make it accessible to as many educators across Illinois as possible. This year’s 2025 ILACEP Dual Credit Summit will be held on Friday, March 21 at both Prairie State College and at Vienna High School.
In addition to the announcement of the date and locations for this year’s ILACEP Dual Credit Summit, the Call for Proposals is also available! There are so many great strategies being implemented to support student success with dual credit across Illinois from the classroom to regional systems.
We look forward to attending this year’s ILACEP Dual Credit Summit at both locations, and we are excited to learn from and with educators from both school districts and postsecondary institutions!
